About Jiayang Fan

Jiayang Fan is a staff writer for The New Yorker, to which she has contributed personal essays, cultural and political commentary, and food criticism (including a memorable essay on what makes disgusting foods disgusting). Fan was born in Chongqing and immigrated to the United States when she was seven. Her first book, a memoir called Motherland, will be published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux.
