About the Speaker 

Joseph Osmundson is a scientist and writer based in New York City.  He has a PhD in Molecular Biophysics from The Rockefeller University and is currently an American Cancer Society post-doctoral fellow in Systems Biology at NYU.  His writing – which focuses on science, bodies, identities, and health – can be found in The Village Voice, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Rumpus, The Los Angeles Review, Gawker, The Lambda Literary Review, and The Feminist Wire.  His book, Capsid: A Love Song, won the 2016 POZ award for Fiction/Poetry and is a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award for Gay Memoir. Joe also recently launched a podcast, Food 4 Thot, with three other queer NYC-based writers.
