Message from Kimberly Goff-Crews to the Yale Community

As we begin to understand the full magnitude of devastation in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, all of us have wondered how we can help. The need right now is for money to provide medical care, emergency shelter, and food to assist the estimated 10 million people affected by the strongest typhoon ever to make landfall in recoded history. Our immediate university-wide plans are focusing on fund-raising for this urgent relief effort.

The Yale Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) and the Yale School of Medicine will be hosting a fundraiser & discussion dinner for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. We will be serving catered dinner in Cohen Auditorium (230 S. Frontage Road) on Sunday, December 8 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

The Asian Network at Yale (AN@Y) will be hosting a Fall Reception Fundraiser for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. The reception will be held at Bentara Restaurant, located at 76 Orange Street, on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Kasama, the Filipino club of Yale, presents Bagong Araw, a benefit concert for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Sheffield Sterling Strathcona Auditorium, Room 114, 1 Prospect St. The concert will include performances by various Yale student groups, followed by a candlelight vigil. Donations for this event will benefit AmeriCares.

David Hill will conduct Yale Schola Cantorum as part of the Evensong at Christ Church Episcopal Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. The offering received at this service will form a part of Yale University's efforts to benefit victims of the recent disaster in the Philippines. Donations will be sent to the American Red Cross in support of the relief efforts.
