I am a viral immunologist with an expertise in immunity to viral pathogens of global importance including dengue and coronaviruses. In my dengue virus studies, I discovered that the genotypic variation within the dengue virus serotype 2 can lead to vaccine immune evasion. This observation has important public health implications as dengue vaccines are designed with the assumption that serotypes are uniformly sensitive to antibodies. For my coronavirus studies, I focus on developing universal vaccination strategies against human coronaviruses that cause lethal disease.
