I screen Emergency Department (ED) patients for alcohol and other drug use, performing brief interventions and referral to treatment. I have received National Institutes of Health grants for ED practitioner-performed brief interventions for harmful and hazardous drinking (Project ED Health). I am also the Medical Director of the Yale-New Haven Hospital Women’s Heart Program. I completed a 2 year grant from the Department of Health and Human Services evaluating targeted interventions for women with cardiac risk factors in the ED Chest Pain Center.
