Nathan D. Grubaugh Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Epidemiology

Expertise:

Zika virus, West Nile virus, mosquitoes, dengue virus, emerging viral diseases

Description:

I study the emergence and spread of mosquito-borne viruses, like Zika, chikungunya, dengue, and West Nile. My lab investigates outbreaks to determine where the viruses came from and how they are spreading, studies how virus mutations that arise during outbreaks may alter transmission and disease, and uses computational and experimental approaches to forecast the spread and evolution of viruses during future epidemics. Our goals are to integrate diverse datasets into surveillance and response programs to better prevent and control future outbreaks
