Description:
I study the mortality and morbidity associated with injection drug use - syringe exchange programs, HIV and hepatitis C prevention, hepatitis B vaccination, opioid overdose, and treatment of opioid addiction. My work provides public health practitioners with information to assist educational and advocacy efforts. I direct the Yale office of the Connecticut Emerging Infections Program, part of a national Centers for Disease Control program assessing public health impacts of diseases such as food-borne illnesses, influenza, Lyme disease, human papillomavirus, and hospital acquired infections.
