About David Epstein
David Epstein is a science writer and author of the top 10 New York Times bestseller The Sports Gene, which has been translated into 13 languages. His 2014 TED Talk was one of the top 20 most-viewed last year. He is an investigative reporter at ProPublica, and was previously a senior writer at Sports Illustrated, where he had a knack for attracting legal threats, thanks to articles like the 2009 piece that revealed (the first time!) that Yankees star Alex Rodriguez had used steroids. He has master’s degrees in geology and journalism, and as an 800-meter runner at Columbia was a university record holder and twice NCAA All-East.
