About Iris Crawford

Iris Crawford is a first-generation Guyanese-American environmental journalist with the Nonprofit Quarterly and steering committee member for The Uproots Project, a newly launched network of environmental journalists of color. She has extensively covered issues of importance to environmental and social justice and climate equity. Her background is in grassroots community organizing and has helped her support clean energy projects, lead resilience workshops, and help frontline communities gain access to the resources they need. She is currently obtaining her Master’s in science writing at MIT. You can find her work in Prism, MIT News, The Oaklandside, and more. She is an Afrofuturist, so she is always thinking about new worlds and futures.
