About Ivan Semeniuk
Ivan Semeniuk is US Bureau Chief for New Scientist, the world’s leading science and technology magazine. He writes, edits and commissions stories for New Scientist and produces podcasts and video segments for the Newscientist.com website. A Canadian, he was a columnist and field producer for Discovery Channel, Canada, from 1995 through 2005, specializing in astronomy and space exploration. Prior to his journalism career, he was known to the Canadian public for many years as the Ontario Science Centre’s resident astronomy expert. He was an MIT Knight Fellow in science journalism (2007-2008) and was recently nominated for a Gemini award for his documentary “Hubble’s Canvas”. He has an undergraduate degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Toronto and a Master’s in Science Journalism from Boston University. He currently divides his time between Toronto and Boston.
