About the Speaker
John Birdsall is a food writer and essayist, and ex-restaurant cook who lives in Oakland. He received a 2014 James Beard Award for food and culture writing. His writing has been featured in Eater, Lucky Peach, and Jarry, where he’s most often focused on the intersection of gay culture and food. His current project is a biography of the chef James Beard.
